Melissa Knopper has 15 years of experience as a metro daily news reporter, including a stint covering police for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, as well as a master's degree in science writing from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. She has written two books on medicine and the environment, taught several university journalism courses. Her work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, The Monterey Herald, Reuters Health, CBS HealthWatch.com, Women's Wear Daily, E/The Environmental Magazine, The Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's newsletter, ADVANCES, and many other publications.

Knopper, who graduated from the University of Michigan, freelances from her home in Denver, Colorado. She lives with her husband, Steve, and daughter, Rose.
